Here's exactly what happens on your first visit.

No mystery. No upsells. A clear, six-step process from "I called" to "I'm getting better — and staying that way." Most new patients are seen within 1–3 business days. Plan on 45–60 minutes for the first visit.

// 01 · THE SIX-STEP PROCESSFrom "I called" to "I'm getting better."

01

Schedule

Most new patients are seen within 1–3 business days. We're not a drop-in clinic — your appointment is a real time block, just for you.

Call us at 541·753·1287 or send a note through our contact form. We don't do online booking — a real person on our team will confirm your appointment by phone or email. If you're flaring badly, tell us; we keep a small number of same-week slots for that.

02

Paperwork

All forms sent by email before your visit. We verify your benefits and tell you exactly what your visit will cost — no surprises.

We email intake forms ahead of time so you can fill them out at home and save 15 minutes at the front desk. Our clinic is fully paperless — if you don't get to it before your visit, we'll hand you a tablet when you arrive. Either way, no clipboards. We also verify your insurance benefits before you arrive and share our best estimate of what your visit will cost. (Estimates aren't guarantees — your insurance company makes the final call on allowables and processing — but you'll go in knowing what we know, and we'll explain what's covered, what isn't, and what your options are.)

03

History & exam

A real history. A focused physical exam. Imaging only when clinically warranted. We don't take shots in the dark with your health.

We sit down with you and listen — what's going on, when it started, what makes it better and worse, what you want to be able to do again. Then we run a focused physical exam: neurological screen, range of motion, orthopedic tests that actually rule things in or out. If imaging would change the plan, we order it. If it wouldn't, we don't — that's wasted radiation, time, and money.

04

Education

Before we treat anything, we walk through what we found and what the research says about it. You'll leave understanding your problem — not just hoping we do.

Before we put hands on you, we walk you through the findings in plain English — what's actually going on, what the research says about it, what the treatment options are, and what your realistic timeline looks like. You should leave the visit able to explain your problem to a friend. If you can't, we didn't do our job.

05

Treatment

Once you understand what's going on, we get to work. Manipulation, soft tissue therapy, rehab — whatever the evidence and your specific case calls for.

We use what fits your case: spinal manipulation (high-velocity or gentler instrument-assisted), joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, shockwave therapy (ESWT) for stubborn tendon and ligament issues, and rehab. If you're nervous about a particular technique, say so. There's almost always more than one path to a good outcome.

06

Homework

Targeted rehab exercises and problem-solving so you can avoid the same issues down the road. You're a participant in your own solution — not a passenger.

You'll leave with two or three specific exercises and a clear sense of what to change in daily life — sitting, sleeping, lifting, training. We progress those visit by visit. Long term, the goal is for you to know your body well enough to handle the next flare yourself, without us.

// 02 · WHAT TO BRINGThe short list.

// 03 · WHAT IT COSTSThe honest version.

We're in-network with BCBS, PacificSource, Moda, Medicare, Oregon Health Plan (OHP), IHN, and VA Community Care via TriWest. We bill in-network and out-of-network as a courtesy — you don't file claims yourself. Cash-pay and HSA/FSA are also options, and we have a discounted time-of-service rate for under-insured patients.

The patient is ultimately responsible for the cost of their care, and benefits verification gives an estimate, not a guarantee. For the full breakdown — including an interactive calculator that shows what your visit would cost — see our insurance page →

Ready when you are. We'll listen first.

// 04 · QUESTIONS WE GET EVERY WEEKQuick answers.

How long is the first visit?

Plan on 45–60 minutes. That's enough for a thorough history, a focused exam, education, and starting treatment. Follow-up visits are usually shorter (15–30 min) depending on what your plan calls for.

What should I wear?

Something you can move in. We're a chiropractic and massage clinic, not a runway. If we need to evaluate or treat a specific area, we have gowns or you can change into shorts.

What should I bring?

Photo ID, your insurance card (if applicable), and your filled-out paperwork. If your visit is for an auto injury, also bring your PIP claim info. If you have recent imaging or specialist notes that are easy to send, those are helpful but not required.

Will I get adjusted on the first visit?

Usually yes — most patients get hands-on treatment on the first visit. If your case is complex or there are red flags that need to be cleared first, we'll explain why we're holding off and what comes next.

How many visits will I need?

Depends on the case. Most uncomplicated MSK conditions improve substantially in 4–8 weeks with a tapering visit schedule. We re-assess every few weeks and don't keep you on the schedule longer than the evidence supports. We don't sell pre-paid visit packages.

Do I need a referral?

Almost never. Oregon is a direct-access state — you can come straight in. A few specific HMOs require referrals; we verify when you book.

Can I bring my kids? My partner?

Of course. Children are welcome — we have a small kid-friendly area in the waiting room. If your partner wants to sit in for the history and exam (or interpret), bring them.

What if I've never seen a chiropractor before?

Tell us. We'll spend more time on what to expect and explain everything as we go. There's no minimum experience required.
